How Can You Help?

2

Outreach

You can help us arrange any of our outreach programs in your community.

3

Spread the Word

Speak to your friends, family, colleagues, neighbours about what we do and refer our service to help reach those who need our support.

4

Speak Out!

If you're a suicide survivor or have been affected by suicide, talk about it. Bring these conversations out in the open and remove the stigma attached to it. Help others deal with their problems through your experience.

No matter what you are going through, you can speak to us.

Orientation

This workshop involves a brief introduction to Samaritans, the work we do, basics of listening skills and the role of volunteers in providing crisis intervention. We have conducted this workshop in Sophia’s, Ruparel, Ruia and Nirmala Niketan etc. The duration is 2 hours.

Listening Skills

This workshop is an intensive program that covers our principles and practices of befriending. We aim to train participants to use active listening and empathetic, non-judgemental emotional support in their professional and personal lives. We have conducted this workshop at Jeshta Nagrik Sangha, All India Women’s Council and Tata Memorial Hospital etc. The duration is 6 hours.

World Suicide Prevention Day

Every year on the 10th of September, we have city wide celebrations and outreach activities to raise awareness about suicide and mental illnesses. In 2015, we conducted flash mobs and street plays across Mumbai on college campuses and public places.
